Supply: Colts hiring former Raiders DC Bradley

INDIANAPOLIS — The Colts are hiring Gus Bradley as defensive coordinator, a supply confirmed. Bradley replaces Matt Eberflus, who’s now the top coach of the Chicago Bears.

Bradley is taking up a protection that is led by linebacker Darius Leonard and defensive lineman DeForest Buckner. The Colts completed second within the NFL in takeaways final season with 33. They have been ninth within the league in factors and sixteenth in yards allowed per recreation in 2021. Bradley should discover a minimum of new line of defense, linebackers, defensive backs and assistant defensive backs coaches as a result of these staffers have been both not retained or went to Chicago with Eberflus.

Bradley spent final season as defensive coordinator of the Las Vegas Raiders. He helped that unit go from twenty fifth in yards allowed in 2020 to 14th final season.

Previous to the Raiders, Bradley spent 4 seasons as defensive coordinator of the Chargers. It was in Seattle, although, that Bradley acquired his status as a defensive coordinator. He was the coordinator of the Seahawks (2009-12) when the secondary, led by cornerback Richard Sherman, was referred to as the Legion of Growth.

Bradley’s success in Seattle helped land him the head-coaching job in Jacksonville, which he held from 2013 to ’16.
